Getting a good IEP for your child: Information session presented by Lamar Mason, former SEAC Chairperson.When: November 26 at Fisher Park High School from 7PM to 9PM.

Workshop by Dr. Karen Rogers presented by ABC Ottawa
On Saturday, November 14, the Association for Bright Children (ABC) Ottawa is offering a full-day workshop to help parents understand what gifted children need during their school years and what strategies they can request from schools.
The workshop is presented by educator and psycologist Dr. Karen Rogers, Professor of Gifted Studies at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.

As part of the OCDSB Speakers' Series:  Connected Conversations – Parents and Teachers Helping Students Learn, Dr. Debbie Pushor, will be speaking on “Parental Engagement – Connecting Schools and Families".

Dr. Pushor is a professor at the University of Saskatchewan whose speciality is studying the relationship between families and schools. Her focus will be on the effect parental enagement can have on students' attitudes towards school, attendance, behaviour, marks, graduation rates and their sense of personal competance.

The staff proposed budget is under discussion by the Budget Committee for 2009-10. Once approved by the Budget Committee it will go to the Board for ratification; but further changes can be made at the Board level. Details on the Special Education portion of this Budget are attached.

You may provide your input and or questions through the methods identified under the Budget Process companion article.
The current Budget process will determine the 2009-10 OCDSB Budget. You may input to this process. This document provides information on when Budget meetings are occuring, and on how to submit your input or ask questions.
